Explain betting terms (single, double, trebles, fourfold etc)

Entering into the world of betting, you may be taken aback first of all by the amount of different types of bets available. Betting goes so much deeper than just picking fixed outrights. There is nothing wrong with just making single fixed outright bets, but for some, part of the online betting experience is challenging themselves on bigger and tougher bets. The bigger the challenge of course, the bigger the rewards, the bigger the risk. So, with so many different names of types of betting floating around, things may be a bit confusing at first at to what some betting terms mean. Here is a guide explaining some of the different types of bets that you may come across.

Fixed Odds Outright Single
This is when you make one single selection from a Sportsbook for a certain outcome to happen. You take the current odds on offer and naturally need your selection to win in order to gain profit.

ACCUMULATORS

Double
This is when you make two separate selections and link them together as double. What this means is that the winnings from the first selection will be placed on the outcome of the second event. You need both selections to win.

Treble
This is when three separate selections are made from a Sportsbook. They are linked as single bets and all are required to win. As in the Double, the winnings from the first bet make the stake which goes on the second bet and so on.

FourFold, FiveFold, SixFold etc.
These are simply the name of accumulators (or parlay bets). The name is just how many selections that you have made, so a SevenFold has seven selections. Accumulators can be very profitable as big winnings can be earned from a small initial stake. It is the cumulative winnings which keep rolling through to the next bet which makes the end profit so good. They are notoriously hard to pull off though, but are always worth a punt because you donít need a big stake to get decent returns.

MULTIPLES (Full cover bets)

Trixie
Three separate selections which are covered by 4 Bets (3 Doubles, 1 Treble). Two correct results are the minimum needed for a return.

Five separate selections which are covered by 31 Bets (5 Singles, 10 Doubles, 10 Trebles, 5 Fourfold, 1 Fivefold). One correct selection is the minimum needed for a return. ONE selection winning guarantees a return. Each way bet available.
