What are bankers?

In sporting events, whether it is cricket, rugby, tennis, football or any other sport, there will be a certain degree of knowledge in place, as to who the winner may be. There is, more often than not, a clear favourite before the sporting event takes place. Whether this is because of head to head history, current form or hot streaks, someone will be favourites. There is a lot of variance though in the degree of favouritism when planning your sports betting at your online bookmaker. For example, if Chelsea are playing a team from the second division in the FA Cup, Chelsea will be overwhelming favourites. If Aston Villa was playing West Brom in the FA Cup, then Villa would be favourites, but not by as much as Chelsea would be. These sure fire bets (or as near as is possible, because there are no 100% certainties in sport) are termed by bookmakers as Bankers.

What are bankers for your betting? Say you are picking a bunch of football matches to bet on, and one of them is a Banker as described above. Normally your online bookmaker will give you the option to select these bankers to use in your multiples bets, and these really are the cornerstone of your accumulators. With an accumulator you need all results to come up trumps, and having a sure fire banker in there, really does set the ground work to kick things off. Although such a banker will not bring the greatest odds, because the bookie is not going to throw generous odds around on a near certainty, they are always worth adding to your bankers. For example, landing four results in an accumulator can be tricky, but when you stick a banker in there taking up a place, you are really looking for only three results to acquire the profits you seek. When you are playing multiples bets you will have the option to pick a banker. What this means, is that you need the result of that banker match to be right in order for any profit to be won at all. Without the banker winning in your permutation, then it doesn’t matter what else goes in, you won’t win. So, your banker can simply be the strongest bet in any accumulator, and when it comes to permutation bets, it is the result or outcome upon which your house of cards is built. It is the strongest option, so it is a must win.
