888 Sport offers some pretty good value
888 Sport are just one of those bookmakers who always seem to be around, and you don’t realise how good a service they are really providing until you take a little bit of time to visit and spend some time at their website. They are pretty strong for odds, and you are generally guaranteed some pretty good value for money there. Take a little time and see what they have for your betting needs, as you may just be surprised.
Betting Odds: 8/10
When it comes to looking at betting odds through the sports book and comparing prices with other online bookmakers, you may be a little surprised as to how well 888 Sport stands up. They do offer some pretty good value throughout their Sportsbook, and regularly show up as providing leading odds for value on football matches. The betting slip at 888 Sport is done in a pop out window, which is a little unusual but it works very well for your bet management. The looks of it are not great, but the operation of it is. The potential returns are shown and updated automatically when you enter a stake, and when you starting adding selections to your slip, the multiples bets will appear automatically as well. There is a good info button for the different types of multiples, just to help you get along if you need it. When the betting slip is running in the background (ie in a the pop out browser window), you can leave it there, and on the main page of the site there is a betting slip info bar telling you how many bets you currently have in your slip. Some people will enjoy having the betting slip separate from the main screen, others may have preferred to have it right there on the right hand side in full, but either way, the betting odds at 888 Sport are very competitive, and the betting slip runs like a charm.
Betting Markets: 8/10
888 Sport have all of the bases covered, from American Football down to UK Racing. As with so many bookmakers, 888 Sport give precedence to the football and horse racing markets, and they sit at the top of the left hand menu, through which the Sportsbook is driven. The design of the Sportsbook is light grey on dark grey and the selections can be a little difficult to read, but that’s splitting hairs as the Sportsbook is extensive and on the whole, pretty well laid out. Taking a look at the Tennis markets for example by clicking on the menu, a list of event appear in the centre of the screen, and by the side of it, you see the types of bets that you want to go into (match winner, or sets betting for example). This organisation is a little different from other bookmakers, and it can be a little confusing at first glance, but it is quite easy to get used to. You are probably betting served though, by using the Tennis link in the main body of the Sportsbook, as it allows you to see the individual events a little more clearly, instead of all lumped together on one page. As for individual match betting on sports, the listing is there along with boxes to check to take the price on offer, and a link next to the competing teams/players to select more bets for that event. Again, the 888 Sport Sportsbook can look a little bit cluttered and jumbled, and it is not to do with the layout as much as it is the design and theme of the website. On the whole there is good depth, and plenty of good variety in the 888 Sport Sportsbook, navigation of it is not too bad, but it certainly is not the best out there. A little touch up in the design and it would make all the difference, because there is a very good core underneath it all, in value, variety and operation.
In-Play Betting: 8/10
Live betting is great on 888 Sport. The main body of the live in play betting at 888 Sport is very good. The layout here if very strong and the theme works very well here. There is good data backing up each live event in the main graphic, and scrolling down the page for an event, you will see a great deal of depth to the live in play betting markets at the bookie. The main upcoming list of events is right on the left hand side next to main betting area and it is well organised by sport. When there are several live events happening a the same time, it is very quick to switch between the markets, so you can follow plenty of live sport very easily. There is a good live diary if you want to plan ahead a little bit, and all of your odds get sent to that betting slip which is still sitting in its separate window. This is one of those time you really did wish it was on the page with you, but it is a minor thing. From soccer to tennis, 888 Sport really do present a very good live in play betting experience. There are also quick links to live scores on the page, plus another link to statistics, which really comes in handy. These also open in new browser windows, and won’t interrupt what you are doing on main live screen. All round, very good.
There is a really good feel about the 888 Sport website, with a very strong orange, black and grey theme. If you like your online bookmaker with features and promotions, then 888 Sport will fit the bill. There is bingo, games, poker and casino to entertain yourself in between visits to the sports book, and there are some great promotions to be found at the online bookmaker. One area of the website which really does need a good mention, is the Racing iCard, which, yes again opens in another new window (you may have a lot open by the time you’ve finished your day’s betting with 888 Sport), but the iCard really does make a big splash on the website. For punters, it is a one stop shop for all of your horse racing betting. A list of forthcoming races will come appear, along with great course information, and links to other races of the day at that course. When going into an individual race, it gets even better. There is a super cool predictor for each race, which suggests how the race may end up. You can filter this prediction, by form, winning form, going or jockey/trainer combo. Underneath each race you will see info about who has run against other runners, and there depth of form information is great. This is a highly recommended service. Opening up The Zone, will give you some good news and blog information about the world of sport.
Customer Service: 7/10
Just hit the support link at the top of the page, and you will be presented with their online help service. You can do a search for your question to try and help you out, or you can just click on through to the Contact Us button, which provides you with an email support form to fill out. No indication of how long it will take to get a reply from them though. That is about it for the method of contacting 888 Sport.
Promotions and Free Bets: 8/10
What 888 Sport do very well is promotions. Just click through to their promotions page (from the main Sportsbook menu) to see what is on offer. They run several ongoing promotions, such as their 88th minute cash back special on football matches, and the person who makes the 888th bet on the website each day, will win a free bet to the equivalent of that stake which was made. This are nice promotions running in the background, but there are so many more which crop up, such as the chance to meet with Shane Warne in an Ashes betting promotion, and a leader board race to win prizes over the festive period of football betting. As a welcome offer for new customers, 888Sport currently provide you with free bets upon registration. New Customer Offer, T&C’s Apply, 18+. Please Gamble Responsibly. See details directly at 888Sport.
Summary/Overall Recommendation: 8/10
Overall, a tale of two halves really. The operation of the 888 Sport website is very good. There are a lot of nice features on there, and the coverage from promotions is very good. The layout of the Sportsbook could just be a little bit better, and on the whole, the entire package could be wrapped up just a little bit neater. That doesn’t stop 888 Sport providing great value on their odds, and actually running a very solid betting website. Once you really do get into it, then you really forget about all the pages opening in new browser windows, and is one of the websites you can actually enjoy being around for a while.
