Amazing sevenfold acca won after season-long wait17th May 2019 / lee
Sometimes there are bets that just amaze. The powers of prediction can just amaze through creativity alone. Such a thing happened at the close of the season as a lucky Irish punter saw their season-long bet won. It was a big sevenfold acca as well.
The bet was a €20 wager that was struck last July with bookmaker Boylesports. The seven selections were predictions of basically finishing positions of different teams from different leagues in England, Scotland and the Netherlands.
In the bet, Ross County (5/2) were backed to win the Scottish Championship and Peterhead (6/4) to win League Two. Both obliged. Bolton’s relegation (4/5) from the Championship was another selection along with a Barnsley top-6 finish in League One (evens).
There there was the MK Dons who the punter had backed for a top-seven finish in League Two. Premier League West Ham had been backed to get a top ten finish for the season, which they managed to secure only on the final day of the season (11/10) thanks to a victory over Watford.
So that was six of the seven predictions done and the final leg of the bet all hinged on Ajax hanging on to win the Eredivisie title. They did just that on the final day of the season as they earned a 4-1 win over Graafschap to hold off PSV Eindhoven.
With all seven predictions coming true, the punter won an eye-catching total of €5,788.13.
Lawrence Lyons, Spokesperson for Boylesports said: “Congratulations to our Donegal customer for scooping such a tidy amount from selections that didn’t even look that unlikely in retrospect.
“They had to sit on the bet over the whole season, but the wait proved well worth it and their patience has paid off in the best way possible.”
