Best Scottish Premiership Betting Tips & Predictions – Matchday 1

Betting Events

After the 2019-20 season was cancelled back in March, we have waited a long time for some Scottish Premiership football. Thankfully, the action from Scotland’s top tier gets underway this weekend, as the new 2020-21 season is finally upon us. We have four big games to look forward to on Saturday, including the early kick off between Aberdeen and Rangers.

Scottish Premiership Matchday 1: Best Betting Football Tips

Aberdeen vs. Rangers: Scottish Premiership Betting Tip on Best Betting Sites

After watching rivals Celtic win yet another Scottish Premiership trophy last season, Rangers will be desperate to win their first league title for ten years. First up for Steven Gerrard’s men is a tough trip to Pittodrie Stadium to face Derek McInnes’ Aberdeen. Rangers are the strong favourites, though.

The Dons could be a tough nut to crack this term as they look to close the gap on the Old Firm. Last season, Aberdeen finished in fourth on 45 points, a whopping 35 points behind eventual champions Celtic.

Rangers had a very productive pre-season campaign, beating the likes of Olympique Lyonnais and Nice from the French Ligue 1. The Teddy Bears fell away in the title race last term, though, ending up 13 points behind the Bhoys.

Rangers will be hoping to start off the new season with three points on the road this Saturday. You can get the top price of 11/10 for the Teddy Bears to win -1 at Pittodrie.

Aberdeen 6/1
Draw 15/4
Rangers 2/5

Dundee United vs. St Johnstone: Best Scottish Premiership Betting Predictions

Dundee United were promoted from the Scottish Championship as champions last term. The Terrors get their Premiership campaign underway with a game against St Johnstone at Tannadice Park on Saturday afternoon.

United had an excellent season in the Championship last term. However, they are no longer managed by popular Robbie Nielson, who opted to leave for Hearts in the summer. Micky Mellon, who did a fine job during his time with Tranmere Rovers, is the new man in charge at Tannadice.

St Johnstone had a fine year in the Premiership last time around, securing a seventh-spot finish. Callum Davidson, who was appointed in June, will want to get off to a winning start and build on Tommy Wright’s excellent work.

In truth, this one could go either way, but we fancy St Johnstone to nick the points in Dundee. The away team are priced at 3/1 to win by one goal.

Dundee United 31/20
Draw 23/10
St Johnstone 17/10

Hibernian vs. Kilmarnock: Best Premiership Betting Tips on Matchday 1

Hibernian and Kilmarnock lock horns at Easter Road in the Scottish capital in the opening round of the new Premiership season on Saturday.

On paper, these two teams seem pretty well matched. Last term, Hibs finished in sixth in the Premiership table, four points and two places above Killie.

These two teams met four times in league and cup action last season, with both sides picking up a win each, while the other two matches ended all square.

Not losing could be the most important thing for both clubs on opening day, so a draw would be a decent result for the pair. Check out bet365’s tempting odds of 7/2 for the draw and both teams to score.

Hibernian 21/20
Draw 12/5
Kilmarnock 5/2

St Mirren vs. Livingston: Best Scottish Premiership Betting Predictions – Matchday 1

Jim Goodwin’s St Mirren and Gary Holt’s Livingston go head-to-head at St Mirren Park on Saturday. Despite being the hosts, the Buddies are the underdogs in this one, with the bookies pricing Livi at just 29/20 to take all three points.

St Mirren only won seven times last term, but they did end up finishing six points clear of bottom club Hearts, who were relegated to the Championship. The Saints netted just 24 league goals, which was the fewest in the division.

Livingston had an excellent season, finishing in fifth spot on 39 points. However, a poor end put paid to any slim European hopes. Can the Lions build on that and finish even higher this time around?

Livi will be looking for all three points in Paisley at the weekend. Take a punt on the visitors to be winning at half time and full time at 3/1.

St Mirren 9/5
Draw 23/10
Livingston 29/20
