Champions League Yankee turns £11 in £190k at William HillNovember 12th, 2012 / lee
The UEFA Champions League was the scene of some great football action during last week and for one lucky punter at William Hill, it was also very profitable. Wednesday night was another action packed night of football betting and Dan Field decided to place an £11 Yankee on four Champions League fixtures for the night. It wasn’t just simply picking the result of each of the four games that the punter went for, he went for massive value in picking four Correct Score bets in the Yankee. His £11 stake was turned into £190,000 as all four results remarkably came up.
The winning Yankee had Correct Score wagers of Man Utd 3-1 v Braga, Benfica 2-0 v Spartak Moscow, Valencia 4-2 against BATE and Chelsea 3-2 over Shakhtar Donetsk. One again, as is usual with these types of bets, the lucky punter was made to sweat. The winning strike for Field, came courtesy of Chelsea’s Victor Moses. The Nigerian forward popped up right at the end of the game at Stamford Bridge against the Ukrainians to give Chelsea a 3-2 win and it struck betting site William Hill in the pocket for £190,000.
It was a pretty unbelievable bet to come up, and turning £11 in £190k doesn’t happen too often. The odds were totally against the Yankee coming up trumps, with the Man Utd result at 14/1, Benfica at 15/2, Chelsea at 22/1 and Valencia at a staggering 50/1. The punter, who is in 20’s said on Twitter that ‘Hasn’t sunk in yet. £11 bet returning £189,000 doesn’t happen too often.’ He then went on to joke that “(I’ll) treat my mates to a £5 curry and a pint prob – expecting change from a 20 note.’
