Clarets priced up at 13/8 to avoid relegation after securing Premier League promotion22nd April 2014 / lee
Burnley joined the elite of the Premier League on Monday night as they secured a 2-0 win over Wigan. Sean Dyche’s men were sent to the top tier of English football after goals from Ashley Barnes and Michael Kightly, in what was the Clarets’ 14th home win of the season.
They will be joining Leicester in the top flight next season.
It has been a campaign of unexpected success for the Clarets as they had been priced at just 9/2 right at the start of the season, to be relegated from the Championship. But they have turned that on its head in spectacular style, helped out by the massive inputs in front of goal by Sam Vokes and Danny Ings. It will be interesting to see how that profili strike force stands up in the top flight.
Online betting site Bet365 were quick to price the Clarets up at 13/8 to avoid relegation next season.
At the other end of the Championship, Blackpool are running at 5/4 with Bet365 to take the drop, a 1-1 draw against Brighton failing to move them out of the bottom three. They are still only a point from safety though, but Barnsley’s survival act looks a lot tougher as they slumped to back to back draws, losing on money at Derby.
