Honesty is the best policy as punter lands £50k Virtual Racing win6th December 2017 / lee
It’s good to the right thing apparently as a construction worker named Colin Banks found out recently. He was out with his daughter and spotted £30 in cash sticking out of an ATM. Instead of just running off with the free money, he graciously turned it over to a store employee and in doing so he received a huge return of Karma.
Less than an hour later, Banks was £50,000 richer after he had turned a £1.50 on a virtual horse bet into a huge windfall. Was this the universe paying things forward? Instead of picking the cash, he was honest enough to give it back to try and return it to its rightful owner instead of just using it to get a wager down.
Instead, he used his own money to play a Lucky 15 on Virtual Racing with Betfred and he picked out horses with odds at 28-1, 20-1, 50-1 and 11-1. The odds of all four coming in was a 372,000-1 longshot and with them all doing so, the 50-year-old collected his karma victory.
Fred Done, owner of BetFred said it was the largest win he’s ever heard of and told the Daily Record that Christmas had come early.
“Congratulations on emptying my pocket so quickly with such a tiny stake,” he said. “This was one of the biggest virtual horse racing wins in our 50-year history.”
