Online betting site William Hill have installed the Abraham Lincoln biopic “Lincoln” starring Daniel Day-Lewis, as the favourite to sweep the ‘Best Picture” title at the 2013 Oscars .The 2013 Academy Awards which is the 85th edition of the illustrious ceremony, will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane, the voice of Stewie in the popular animated comedy Family Guy. The Academy Awards are scheduled for February 24th, 2013 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
Lincoln is trading as strong favourite to take the ‘Best Picture’ after receiving rave reviews since its release. The nearest competitor in the field at online betting site William Hill, is Ben Affleck’s Argo which won the Critics Choice award, trading at a price of 11/1. Musical Les Miserables is close behind at 12/1, with outside shots being Zero Dark Thirty, Silver Linings PLaybook and Life of Pi.
Daniel Day Lewis is trading as the overwhelming favourite too in the Best Actor award category in 2013 Oscars betting. The British actor is trading at 1/8 favourite for his powerful portrayal of former US President Abraham Lincoln in “Lincoln”. Hugh Jackman is the closest challenger to Daniel Day Lewis in the Best Actor market for his starring role in Les Miserables, with Denzel Washington and Joaquin Phoenix trading well back for Flight and The Master respectively.
Director of “Lincoln” Steven Spielberg is the strong favourite to win the Best Director award for the picture, and Lincoln’s Tommy Lee Jones is trading as favourite ahead of The Master’s Philip Seymour Hoffman to win the Best Supporting Actor.
Jennifer Lawrence for her role in Silver Linings Playbook is trading as 1/2 favourite to take the Best Actress award in 2013 Academy Award betting at online bookmaker William Hill, but it could be a close race between her and Jessica Chastain, who took high praise for her role in Zero Dark Thirty and who is trading at 2/1.
