Blades are sharp enough beat Newcastle
Seven games without a loss is the run that the Blades are currently on in the top flight. Just stop and consider that they were a newly promoted side this season and it’s remarkable where they are at. It was a 1-1 draw at Wolves that they played out on the weekend, which was their third straight drawn fixture. The previous two in the sequence were against Spurs and Man Utd, so they continue to prove that they can more than hold their own.
There is a great shot at three points in this one for them, there has to be. It is a W3 D1 L3 record at home this season from them, but they are unbeaten in three at Bramall Lane. The Blades have netted exactly three goals in both of their last two there as well. Each home win that the Blades have taken this season have been with a clean sheet and they have also earned a clean sheet in a third of all league games played this season. Only the top two of Liverpool and Leicester have better defensive records than the Blades. That’s how strong Chris Wilder’s men are at the back.
Sheffield United vs Newcastle Head to Head
This is the first meeting since the 2009/10 Championship season
Newcastle are on a three-match league winning streak over the Blades
Things are even at two wins each from the four previous Premiership meetings
Both teams have scored in three of the last eight meetings in all competitions
Newcastle’s defensive displays away from home are a problem
Newcastle took a surprise point against Manchester City at St James’ Park on the weekend. Jonjo Shelvey picked up a late equaliser for them. That leaves them with only one defeat in their last five league outings (W2 D2) so there have been some clear signs of improvement from them. But in their last away game which was out at Aston Villa, Newcastle produced a really poor performance and suffered a 2-0 loss. The Magpies have lost five of their last seven road games.
The Magpies have conceded at an average of two goals per road fixture. They have come up with only six goals on their travels. Of the five away defeats which they have suffered, four of them have been by a margin of at least two goals. Newcastle have been trailing at half time in four of their seven road games. With no clean sheet on the board in their last six games, this is not going to be an easy game at all for them out on the road.

Who will win – Sheffield United vs Newcastle Predictions
The home win has the most appeal of the options in the match outright for this fixture. Sheffield United are a real handful for anyone and they can push and find a way to break down Newcastle in what will likely be a low scoring game. The Magpies were very poor in their last road game. Home win.
