Racemail tipster hammers bookies for 1,623/1 at Newmarket18th April 2014 / lee
One of the best known horse racing tipsters in the UK, Racemail’s award winning Sam Turner, was at it again on Thursday. He showed up at Newmarket at smacked the bookies for a total of 1,623/1. He did it by landing six of the eight winners on the race card.
Running under the pseudonym of Robin Goodfellow at Racemail, Tuner has managed to get his hands on the National Press Challenge title three times in the last five years. He continued his fine reputation by solidifying his spot at the top of this year’s challenge.
Turner struck first with Basem (5-2) in the Wood Ditton Stakes and tipped Toormore as even money favourite in the Craven Stakes. Turner continued landing the winners with Abernant Stakes victor Hamza (11-4), Earl Of Sefton Stakes hero Mull of Killough (4-1) plus Hadawatha (7-2) and Cloudscape (7-4).
The feature race of the day was the Craven Stakes, in which winner Toormore should have raised his credentials for the 2,000 Guineas shot in May. Despite having a three pound penalty to overcome and romping to a two-length win, it was expected that the bookmakers would have sat up and taken more notice.
However, the performance didn’t do anything to shorten his odds for the 2014 renewal of the 2,000 Guineas, and last season’s champion two year old, despite his professional performance at Newmarket on Thursday couldn’t do enough to move ahead in the market from Kingsman.
5/6 odds on favourite for the 2,000 Guineas, Kingsman delivered an impressive four and a half length win in the Greenham Stakes last Saturday, and that was enough to keep bookmakers firm on his favouritism for May.
