Saturday, December 22nd Scoop6 Win Fund untouched after Cause of Causes takes the Ladbroke23rd December 2012 / lee
The shock winner of The Ladbroke put a dampener on the chances of the remaining nine Scoop6 tickets which were left in at the fifth race of Saturday’s pool. It was a rough day for punters on the Scoop6 with just nine tickets going into the 3:10 at Ascot, which was won by Cause of Causes. Not only did Cause of Causes victory wipe out all Win Fund tickets, there were 26 bonus tickets running this week and the Gordon Elliott trained outsider wiped all those out as well.
Incredibly, at that bonus run stage of the Scoop6 only seven of the 21 runners in The Ladbroke was actually covered by the 26 Bonus tickets, and when Cause of Causes crossed the line first, all Win Fund and Bonus tickets were eliminated. The bonus fund that the 26 tickets were going after on the weekend, stood at £52,059.
The upset in The Ladbroke means that the Win Fund will roll over to next week, as well as the Bonus fund getting a top up. There was a total of £134,060 bet into the pool on Saturday and while there were no big winners of the Win Fund, there were 38 winners of the place fund, each lucky winner landing a nice £705.50
Reve De Sivola started things off on Saturday’s Scoop 6 at Ascot, with Cannington Brook taking the second win of the day at Haydock Park, and when True To Form took the win at Lingfield in the third race of the Scoop6, it left 156 winning tickets in the hunt for a big prize in the win fund. This was trimmed all the way down to just nine as Royal Peculiar took a win at Lingfield in race four and then came the result of Cause of Causes in The Ladbroke to end the hopes of those final nine tickets. Favourite Cool Sky wrapped things up in the sixth race of the Scoop6 at Lingfield Park.
Totepool spokesman Mark Pearson said “Incredibly although we had 26 punters chasing the bonus only 7 horses were covered. The win and bonus funds roll onto next Saturday but we have a Festive Scoop6 on Boxing Day.”
So with punters missing out on an early Christmas present, they won’t have to wait a full week to get another crack at the rollover funds. There will be a special Festive Scoop6 on Boxing Day as well as on New Year’s Day.
A £2 stake is all it will take for you to have a crack at the Scoop6 big prizes. The Tote will announce the six races which make up the Scoop6 day on a Saturday and punters can use their horse racing knowledge and experience to try and pick out the six winners of each of the featured races.
