Barcelona vs Real Madrid La Liga Preview, 18th December 7.00 pm

This is the first El Clasico of the season in the Spanish top flight. Things couldn’t be tighter at the top either because Barcelona and Real Madrid are locked on points after they could only draw their efforts on the weekend. Will Barcelona, who are top on goal difference, be able to take advantage of home soil to put a little bit of distance between themselves and their main title contenders? Read our Barcelona vs Real Madrid betting tips for more.

barcelona can make a statement at the Nou Camp

Barcelona had to fight back from having conceded the opening goal against Real Sociedad on the weekend. They did enough to find themselves ahead in the second half, but couldn’t deliver the win. That was an away game for them, and it snapped a four-match winning streak of league form that they have been on. On home soil in this season’s La Liga, Barcelona have won all seven of their fixtures. It has been a great goal scoring output that they have produced there as well.

It has been an average of 4.3 goals per home fixture in the league that Barcelona have produced in this campaign. 71% of games at the Nou Camp have gone over 4.5 goals. Barcelona have outscored Real Madrid by 10 league goals this season. That could be a difference-maker in El Clasico. Barcelona have only managed one clean sheet in their last seven league games in the top flight and only have one at home. However, 6 of their 7 home wins have been by a margin of at least two goals. Barca have been leading at half time in 6 of 7 home games.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid Head to Head

Barcelona took a W3 D1 record against Real Madrid in all competitions last season
Real Madrid are winless in six games (all competitions) against Barcelona
Four of the last five league meetings have gone over 2.5 goals
Barca are unbeaten in their last three home games against Madrid

Can Real Madrid match Barca’s attacking threat?

Big game out on the road for Real Madrid. They may be approaching it with the thinking that avoiding defeat at their main title rivals would be something of a success. They are level on points with the leaders. So this isn’t a crazy win or bust situation for them. They do have key injuries at the moment and on the weekend, Karim Benzema scored in the 95th minute to rescue a point for them at Valencia. That is a seven-match undefeated streak of form that they are on. The weekend’s draw snapped a four-match winning streak.

Out on their top flight travels Real Madrid have posted a W4 D3 L1 record. It has only been an average of 1.6 goals per away game, but defensively they have been very good. That has actually been a big strength of theirs this season. Real Madrid have four clean sheets in their last seven league games and have only shipped 6 goals in their 7 road fixtures. Los Blancos have been level at the break in 5 of their away games. Home and away they have opened the scoring in 10 of 16 fixtures.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid Tips & Odds

Who will win – Barcelona vs Real Madrid Predictions

Barcelona have put in a great season on home soil. It’s their powerful home attack up against the rigid defence of Real Madrid. The Catalans have a lot more to offer going forward and with home soil advantage, should make this one count with a narrow victory. Home win.

Valencia vs Real Madrid La Liga Preview, 15th December 8.00 pm

This is going to be another interesting clash between these two. Valencia have enjoyed some decent form at home against Real Madrid recently, so will pique interest in this one. They are in good shape at the moment but will be facing a Real Madrid side who are on a four-match winning streak. Read our Valencia vs Real Madrid betting tips for more.

Draw 14/5
Valencia 14/5
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on December 13th, 2019 at 11:30 p.m.)

Valencia can handle themselves at the Mestalla

A 4-2 win away at Levante last weekend gave Valencia their fourth win in the last five league outings. So they are carrying a bit of form with them. They have gone undefeated at the Mestalla this season in the top flight, taking a W4 D4 record from eight. So that’s a strong starting point for them. They have also hosted three of the five teams who are starting the weekend in the top fight and Valencia have drawn each of those.

So they can stick in there and handle themselves against the strong company. It is an average of 1.75 goals per game that they have produced at home as well, picking up a clean sheet in two of their six. Valencia are 7 points better off than they were at this stage of last season’s top-flight campaign. Valencia have netted at least 2 goals in all but one of their last six home games against Real Madrid (all competitions).

Valencia vs Real Madrid Head to Head

Valencia are W3 D1 L1 in their last five at home against Madrid
The two traded home wins last season
Both teams have scored 11 of the last 12 meetings
Over 2.5 goals has happened in all but one of the last 12 meetings

Will Real have more struggles at Valencia?

Real Madrid are not able to field their strongest side. They have a growing injury list including important attacking players Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard sat on the sidelines. They are on a four-match winning streak at the end of the day, undefeated in their last six La Liga games (W5 D1). So they have some form there. On their travels in the league, they have claimed a W4 D2 L1 record.

They have improved dramatically in defence from last season. They currently boast the second-best defensive record in the top flight, having conceded only 11 times in 15 games. They have shipped only the five goals on their travels, scoring at an average rate of 1.7 per fixture. Only twice on their travels have they been ahead at halftime on the road. They’ve lost three of the last five visits to the Mestalla. Will Los Blancos have more troubles there?

Valencia vs Real Madrid Tips & Odds

Home win at 14/5
Valencia – Draw Double Chance 4/5

The Valencia – Draw Double Chance option has to be worth a look here. They have a bit of home form against Real Madrid do Valencia and that does give them some appeal to frustrate Los Blancos once more.

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona La Liga Preview, 1st December 8.00pm

A win for Atletico on Sunday evening will see them draw level on points with Barcelona in the La Liga title race. So this is a big one for them. Can Atletico defend home soil against the Catalans? One positive for Diego Simeone’s men is that they have only lost once this season, while Barcelona have suffered three road defeats already in this campaign. The Odds on Atletico Madrid to beat Barcelona are at 7/4* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on November 29th, 2019 at 7:12 p.m.). Read our Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona betting tips for more.

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona Betting Odds*

Draw 23/10
Barcelona 13/8
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on November 29th, 2019 at 7:12 p.m.)

Atleti may have just enough at home to beat Barca

Atletico Madrid have lost one league game this season. Barcelona have lost three and those were all away from home. So there is a decent chance at a big three points for Atletico. They are unbeaten in their last ten league games which is a fantastic return. However, they drew seven of those ten games. So they have surrendered a lot of points, which will be frustrating boss Diego Simeone no doubt. Atletico have taken back to back home wins, with a home record of W4D2.

Atleti have not lost any of their last 14 league home games. In 10 of their last 11 home and away in the division, the game has ended under 2.5 goals. There just doesn’t seem to be anything other than a tight, low scoring game coming up on the weekend. That would suit Atletico just fine, even though they are without a clean sheet in four. They may be the lowest scoring side in the top half of the table but hold the joint-best overall defensive record.

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona Head to Head

The last two league meetings at Atletico have ended in a 1-1 draw
Atletico are winless in 18 league games against Barca
Both teams have scored in six of the last eight meetings in all competitions
Just two of the last nine meetings have gone over 2.5 goals

Barca’s away record doesn’t instil confidence

Barcelona saw Real Madrid take over at the top of the league from them on Saturday.  The Catalans have won five of their last six and they hold a perfect record at the Nou Camp. However, on their travels, they have lost three times (D1 L3) in seven games. That’s not what you expect from them. The goals haven’t been flowing on the road either. Barcelona are averaging 1.4 goals per away fixture.

In contrast, they average over 4 goals per home game. Yes, Barcelona only failed to win 34 of their last 38 league games, but those away defeats leave a betting window of opportunity open. There are good stats there for them, like their eight-match unbeaten run against Atletico in all competitions and the fact that they have scored at least 2 goals in all but one of their last eight league games. But those away defeats raise some eyebrows and they have been against lesser teams than Atletico.

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona Tips & Odds

Under 2.5 goals at 8/11
Home win at 7/4
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on November 29th, 2019 at 7:12 p.m.)

Who will win – Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona Predictions

Is there a small gap through which Atletico can squeeze themselves to land a rare win over Barcelona.?There may well be. Barca have looked a little disjointed out on the road and the goals haven’t been flowing from them. There’s no better team around than Atletico defensively and they may be able to thwart the challenge of the visitors and grab three points.

Odds on Barcelona to beat Real Madrid 2019-02-02

Betting Events

Two El Clasico fixtures in the space of four days. It doesn’t get much better than that really. Real Madrid and Barcelona will be showing down once again at the Bernabeu on the weekend. In midweek Barcelona went there and destroyed their opponents in the Copa del Rey.

Will it be more of the same from the Catalans who are driving towards a league title? The odds on Barcelona to beat Real Madrid are at 13/10* (betting odds taken from bet365 on February 28th, 20198 at 7:03 pm) which makes them favourites

Barcelona dominance

Barcelona arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night for the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi final. Things stood even at 1-1 after the first leg, Barcelona having had to fight back from being behind in that game. So they were expecting a tough challenge but they found the going fairly easy on the night as they pulled away to a 3-0 win which included a brace from Luis Suarez.

Suarez had been on a five-match goal drought but has now scored three goals in his last two games for the Catalans. That was a superb display from them and that should have given them a tremendous lift for this quick return. Barcelona are currently top of La Liga by seven points over Atletico Madrid, with Real Madrid a further two points back. So a win here for Barcelona and that would see them take a big step towards another league title.

Barcelona are running on a thirteen match undefeated streak of league form at the moment and they have not lost any of their last nine on the road. They have collected win in five of their last six away from the Nou Camp (W1). Barcelona are the top scorers in the league this season with a 65-goal haul. That is 22 more than what Real Madrid have managed to produce across the course of the season.

Head to head

Barcelona have the upper hand in the recent head to head between themselves and their rivals Real Madrid. Barcelona are on a five-match undefeated streak of form against Los Merengues now. Following their midweek win at the Bernabeu, that is back to back 3-0 success there in all competitions from Barcelona. Barcelona have only lost one of their last four visits there as well across all competitions. So they have reason to turn up with confidence.

Madrid’s drop off in form

Real Madrid lost their last home game, a 2-1 reverse against Girona. That was a big upset but it was their second defeat in their last four games on home soil actually in the league. Throw in their midweek defeat against Barcelona and it’s not been going too well for them. While their form has been better than it was over the first part of the season, there are cracks which are starting to appear there.

It looks as if half of their team could be leaving in the summer. Gareth Bale who scored a winning penalty last weekend at Levante didn’t want to celebrate with his teammates. He is available to play in this one after not being punished for a celebration gesture in a previous match. Sergio Ramos has a cloud hanging over him after being charged with deliberately receiving a booking in the Champions League. Then there is their recent form which hasn’t been great.

Barcelona can make a bold statement in this one. Real Madrid didn’t really have an answer against them in the Copa del Rey. They will be a bit more dialled in this one, but you get the impression it’s not going to take much for their heads to drop if Barcelona get themselves in front. The odds on Barcelona to beat Real Madrid away from home at 13/10 look a pretty good offering for this big El Clasico showdown* (betting odds taken from bet365 on February 28th, 20198 at 7:03 pm).

Bet365 offer even money odds on Real Madrid to beat Atletico Madrid

Betting Events

The big Madrid derby, the first of the season happens on the weekend in La Liga. This is going to be one of the highlights of the weekend’s football action. Real Madrid are sitting in second place in the league, one place and two points ahead of their rivals Atletico. There will be some added pressure on home side Real to come up with the win after suffering a big loss in midweek.

Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid Odds*

Real Madrid recovery

Real Madrid needs to pick themselves up after they were floored in midweek against Sevilla. In Wednesday night’s action in La Liga, Barcelona had suffered a shock defeat against bottom side Leganes and so Real Madrid had a chance to climb above the Catalans with a result out at Sevilla later that evening. But Los Blancos suffered their first defeat of the season and it was a crushing one at 3-0.

So for the first time this season they will have their resolve tested in having to recover from a loss. Losing momentum before a big Madrid derby is the last thing that they would have wanted, but at least in such a big game, there is not going to be any question about mentality. They are going to be up for this on home soil against their city rivals. Home soil is where Real Madrid have flourished as well this season.

Home strengths key

Real Madrid has won all three of their home games in La Liga this season, scoring a total of seven goals across that sequence of games. They have taken a clean sheet in two of those three as well so their home form stands up. That is going to be important for them to try and break out three points in this derby match, after having drawn their last three against Atletico in all competitions (90 minutes).

The most recent was the European Super Cup back in August, which Real did go on to lose in extra time. But they are on an unbeaten run of four matches on home soil in all competitions against Atletico and with a W1 D3 record. So that is a solid pointer that they aren’t likely to lose this La Liga fixture on the weekend. The question is, can they find that winning touch now they need it most?

Narrow Margins

If the win comes for Real Madrid then it is likely to be by the narrowest of margins. A Real Madrid to win by a 1 goal margin is at 11/4 odds* (betting odds taken on September 28th, 2018 at 5:23 pm). Considering that they have so far only concerned the one goal on home soil this season and they will be facing an Atletico side who have not been at their best on their travels yet, that does appear to offer some value.

Atletico Madrid are just W1 D1 L1 in their three away games this season and with just the one clean sheet on the board. So there should be chances for Real Madrid in this one, although the outcome of the match is likely to stay under 2.5 goals. Five of the last six Madrid derby matches between the two sides at the Bernabeu have finished under the goal line.

Madrid derby predictions

Real Madrid needs to show the mental strengths to bounce back from that harrowing midweek set back. This is the perfect opportunity in which to show their strengths and their true selves. With the threat of Gareth Bale and youngsters like Isco and Asensio, they are valuae to right those midweek wrong and get a narrow win in the first Madrid derby of the season.

Odds on Real Madrid to beat Atletico Madrid 2016-11-19

Betting Events

One of the biggest games at club level in Europe is heading our way on Saturday evening. It is the Madrid derby from the Spanish top flight and with this involving two of the best clubs on the continent at the moment, it is probably going to be a full-on encounter. Visitors to the Calderon always have a tough time in breaking down Atletico there and the home side are in need of the three points. They have produced some top form at home as well this season, but recent defeats out on the road may have dented their confidence a little bit. Real Madrid go into the game sitting top of La Liga and with a six point advantage over their city rivals and won’t want to let their grip on the title race slip backwards in this tough derby match up. A fantastic spectacle to come from Spain on Saturday night.

Here we go then with one of the best fixtures from across European club football. We have a Madrid derby to warm up Saturday evening and we are probably going to be in for another tight and tense affair between these two. We have seen them square off against one another a lot over the last two seasons (eleven times) and Atletico are on top in that sequence of games. Atletico have lost just one of the last eleven against Real Madrid in the league, winning five of them and they are unbeaten now in their last six against Los Merengues. So the head to head form is clearly running with them right now and the bookmakers are slightly siding with them as well going into this one. As well as the head to head against Real, Atletico are a tremendously tough side to beat at the Vicente Calderon.

Atletico have gone W4 D1 in La Liga at home this season, but unlike them, they have scored a total of 18 goals in those five games (which matches the average that they had after five homes when they won the league a couple of years ago). They have scored at least four goals in three of those five at home and they have, for the most part, been tight at the back with only Villarreal have conceded fewer goals than they have done.  But then, you have seen Atletico Madrid conceded at least one goal in each of their four games and results lately haven’t quite gone their way with two defeats in their last three and perhaps are just struggling to put it together at the moment.

Granted those two defeats were away from home, but they can still set back a club. Even though Atletico can boast a lot of scoring power as they have Antoine Griezmann (who has four goals in his last six against Real in the league) at even money in the anytime goalscorer market, with Kevin Gameiro at 8/5 and. Yannick Carrasco at a 12/5 price (who has six in his last four at home) they are being heavily outscored still by Real this season in the league. So will their usually tight defence fail them again when Cristiano Ronaldo and co turns up? Even though Atletico are unbeaten in their last six at home against Real, their opponents have never gone seven consecutive matches there without a win before.

Real boss Zinedine Zidane has a W25 D5 L1 league record, with that one loss against Atletico Madrid at the Bernabeu. Real are again looking strong this season with an unbeaten W8 D3 L0 record in La Liga this term and they go into this derby with a four match winning streak on their side. They are the second highest scoring side in La Liga, with Barcelona edging them out by just one goal heading into the weekend and they have Cristiano Ronaldo at 5/4 with Bet365 in the anytime goalscorer market to start with but he is on a six match scoreless streak against Atletico Madrid. Gareth Bale is at 7/4 to net and the impressive Alvaro Morata has been going well too. Then there’s Karim Benzema at 8/5 and he has three in his last six against Atletico.

We have seen a lot of tight games between these two lately and two of the three last season ended in a 1-1 draw which is a 5/1 punt to repeat itself in this one. But Real Madrid are on a fifteen match scoring streak away from home in the league and over that sequence of away fixtures have averaged 2.6 goals per game. Real Madrid also are unbeaten in their last sixteen out on the road in the league (W12 D4) and if this come down to another tight duel, will it be one of their star forwards that will make the difference at the end of the day, against an Atletico defence which has been conceding lately? Both teams to score on the night will return you a price of 7/10 with online betting site Bet365. Real go into this one top of the league and a point could keep them there, unless Barcelona win and out-do them on goal difference.

All in all, Real are the ones who have been scoring more and the cracks that have appeared in Atletico’s defence may have come at the wrong time. It’s not often that you are going to see Real Madrid running at such a tempting price at Bet365 to go and win a match and it may be worth a flutter on them breaking their winless form at the Calderon.
