Landing a big accumulator win is not an easy thing at all at the best of times. Usually, there is some very late drama deep into stoppage time at the end of a leg or two. For a Ladbrokes punter over the weekend, a dramatic 45th-minute goal rescued a bet to land a £21,000 acca win.
The Ladbrokes punter had seven of their eight legs winning from a bet on all eight to be winning at the half time break in Saturday 3pm kick offs. The late drama in the half which saved the bet was at Bramall Lane when Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp popped up at the back post to net against Wigan in the final minute of the half.
Elsewhere, halftime leads for Nottingham Forest, Peterborough United, Colchester United, Wrexham, AFC Fylde, Newport County and Sunderland ensured the punter pocketed a whopping £21,224.72.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “What a weekend our plucky punter had. Sheffield United Billy Sharp played a huge part in this success story but full credit goes to the brains behind this bet!”

The international break may turn off some punters, but while the recent friendly matches and Nations League stuff was going on, there was plenty of lower league action in England and Scotland going on.
One Ladbrokes punter from Dundee landed a big £84,000 return from a seven-fold accumulator during the recent international break. All of the selections were Match Outright & Both Teams To Score selections.
That’s really pushing things to a difficult level. The teams backed for a win across the bets was Portsmouth, Colchester United, Newport County, Northampton Town, Solihull Moors, Dundee United and Elgin City.
All of the matches were from 3 pm selections and nearing the conclusion of the action, only five of the seven selections were winning. But Andy Williams netted a 97th winner for Northampton, while Newport scored even later in the 98th minute to give the punter the win.
The better scooped a grand total of £84,843.73 from the £5 stake.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It was very much a weekend for favourite-backers in the lower leagues of football across the UK and while plenty of accas landed, this has to be the biggest and best we’ve seen for some time.”

Need some inspiration that those big bets can come in? Well, look no further than to what happened to a Ladbrokes punter last week. They returned a big win of £11k after a £1.30 seventeen-fold acca.
It was a staggering bet made up from unpredictable Europa League match day one group stage fixtures. The bet was a mix of full-time scores, both teams to score and over 1.5 goals selections.
Some of the more popular options were Chelsea to beat FC PAOK and Celtic to beat Rosenborg. But there were some less predictable results in there such as FC Krasnodar to beat Akhisar Belediyespor and FC BATE Borisov to beat Vidi FC.
The bet was almost a non-starter with the first leg of the bet almost going down. That was a fixture between Stade Rennes and FK Jablonec. The punter had selected a home win but the fixture was level at 1-1 at 90 minutes, but the luck of the punter kicked off as Stade Rennes netted a dramatic late penalty to take the win. All of the sixteen following selections came up to land the incredible win.

During the 2018 World Cup, it was reported that one in five commercials during broadcasts were gambling advertisements. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) reportedly received a huge spike in complaints about the amount and nature of gambling advertising during the tournament. A great deal of the complaints was down to saturation.
A lot of this was pre-watershed times because of the live matches being shown from Russia. Gambling advertisements are allowed pre-watershed, however Ladbrokes Coral have announced that they would be “supportive” of changes.
GambleAware chief executive Marc Etches said there were increasing concerns about sports betting becoming “normalised” for children.
Etches said in a statement: “In the absence of evidence, the concern is that this is an adult activity and young people are growing up with it being normalised.
“They get exposed to it on television around sports, advertising online and gambling activities within [computer] games.
“It seems to have gone too far. And for young people growing up there just seems to be a stronger and stronger affiliation between the two [gambling and sport] and I’m wary of that.”
Ladbrokes Coral market director Alexis Zamboglou said that “Sports betting is enjoyed by millions of people across the UK every year and we wanted to make sure that this great sports entertainment product enhanced sports fans’ experience of the World Cup, without diluting our strong commitment to responsible gambling.”
He went on to state that commercials that were produced for Ladbrokes and Coral during the 2018 World Cup “enhanced” the coverage of the football tournament for sports fans.
