Real Madrid 17/20
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on January 6th, 2020 at 3:52 p.m.)
Valencia are the reigning Copa del Rey champions and this is their first appearance in the Super Cup since 2008. They will fancy their chances in this one because they nearly did secure a league victory over Los Blancos in the middle of December. Real Madrid are not turning up at full strength because of injury either. It is currently a seven-match undefeated streak of form that Valencia are on in all competitions.
They have only been beaten once in their last twelve fixtures. With a win in four of their last six played, they have some form going behind them. Valencia have only gained two clean sheets in their last eight fixtures, but they have scored in every game played in all competitions since losing to Ajax in the Champions League back on October 2nd. So they are not a pushover by any stretch of the imagination.
Valencia and Real Madrid drew 1-1 in league action in December
Real Madrid have won two of the last five meetings with Valencia
Both teams have scored in 12 of the last 13 meetings
Valencia lost 5-6 on aggregate to Real Madrid in the 2008 Super Cup
Real Madrid will go into the game without Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale or Karim Benzema. That’s quite a hit for them. They are sitting in points above Valencia the current La Liga standings but the form of Los Blancos has not been particularly hot. They have drawn three of their last four games played (W1). They had played out back to back 0-0 draws against Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao just before their winter break in December.
They returned to league action on January 4th and secured a 3-0 success at Getafe. That is at least three straight clean sheets for Zinedine Zidane’s side now, and four of their last six played. Real Madrid are in this revamped format of the Super Cup because of a third-place finish in last season’s La Liga standings. They are 10 times winners of the Super Cup, their last success coming in 2017. Given that Real are undefeated in their last fourteen games in all competitions, this is likely going to be a tight game. Four of Madrid’s last six games have gone under 2.5 goals.
Valencia have lost only one of their last dozen games, and Real Madrid being on a long unbeaten streak, it’s hard to see any kind of big margin separating the two sides on the day. Madrid are understrength and because of that, a To Qualify option on Valencia may appeal.
This is the first El Clasico of the season in the Spanish top flight. Things couldn’t be tighter at the top either because Barcelona and Real Madrid are locked on points after they could only draw their efforts on the weekend. Will Barcelona, who are top on goal difference, be able to take advantage of home soil to put a little bit of distance between themselves and their main title contenders? Real Madrid 10/3

Barcelona had to fight back from having conceded the opening goal against Real Sociedad on the weekend. They did enough to find themselves ahead in the second half, but couldn’t deliver the win. That was an away game for them, and it snapped a four-match winning streak of league form that they have been on. On home soil in this season’s La Liga, Barcelona have won all seven of their fixtures. It has been a great goal scoring output that they have produced there as well.
It has been an average of 4.3 goals per home fixture in the league that Barcelona have produced in this campaign. 71% of games at the Nou Camp have gone over 4.5 goals. Barcelona have outscored Real Madrid by 10 league goals this season. That could be a difference-maker in El Clasico. Barcelona have only managed one clean sheet in their last seven league games in the top flight and only have one at home. However, 6 of their 7 home wins have been by a margin of at least two goals. Barca have been leading at half time in 6 of 7 home games.
Barcelona took a W3 D1 record against Real Madrid in all competitions last season
Real Madrid are winless in six games (all competitions) against Barcelona
Four of the last five league meetings have gone over 2.5 goals
Barca are unbeaten in their last three home games against Madrid
Big game out on the road for Real Madrid. They may be approaching it with the thinking that avoiding defeat at their main title rivals would be something of a success. They are level on points with the leaders. So this isn’t a crazy win or bust situation for them. They do have key injuries at the moment and on the weekend, Karim Benzema scored in the 95th minute to rescue a point for them at Valencia. That is a seven-match undefeated streak of form that they are on. The weekend’s draw snapped a four-match winning streak.
Out on their top flight travels Real Madrid have posted a W4 D3 L1 record. It has only been an average of 1.6 goals per away game, but defensively they have been very good. That has actually been a big strength of theirs this season. Real Madrid have four clean sheets in their last seven league games and have only shipped 6 goals in their 7 road fixtures. Los Blancos have been level at the break in 5 of their away games. Home and away they have opened the scoring in 10 of 16 fixtures.

Barcelona have put in a great season on home soil. It’s their powerful home attack up against the rigid defence of Real Madrid. The Catalans have a lot more to offer going forward and with home soil advantage, should make this one count with a narrow victory. Home win.
This is going to be another interesting clash between these two. Valencia have enjoyed some decent form at home against Real Madrid recently, so will pique interest in this one. They are in good shape at the moment but will be facing a Real Madrid side who are on a four-match winning streak. Read our Valencia vs Real Madrid betting tips for more.

A 4-2 win away at Levante last weekend gave Valencia their fourth win in the last five league outings. So they are carrying a bit of form with them. They have gone undefeated at the Mestalla this season in the top flight, taking a W4 D4 record from eight. So that’s a strong starting point for them. They have also hosted three of the five teams who are starting the weekend in the top fight and Valencia have drawn each of those.
So they can stick in there and handle themselves against the strong company. It is an average of 1.75 goals per game that they have produced at home as well, picking up a clean sheet in two of their six. Valencia are 7 points better off than they were at this stage of last season’s top-flight campaign. Valencia have netted at least 2 goals in all but one of their last six home games against Real Madrid (all competitions).
Valencia are W3 D1 L1 in their last five at home against Madrid
The two traded home wins last season
Both teams have scored 11 of the last 12 meetings
Over 2.5 goals has happened in all but one of the last 12 meetings
Real Madrid are not able to field their strongest side. They have a growing injury list including important attacking players Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard sat on the sidelines. They are on a four-match winning streak at the end of the day, undefeated in their last six La Liga games (W5 D1). So they have some form there. On their travels in the league, they have claimed a W4 D2 L1 record.
They have improved dramatically in defence from last season. They currently boast the second-best defensive record in the top flight, having conceded only 11 times in 15 games. They have shipped only the five goals on their travels, scoring at an average rate of 1.7 per fixture. Only twice on their travels have they been ahead at halftime on the road. They’ve lost three of the last five visits to the Mestalla. Will Los Blancos have more troubles there?

The Valencia – Draw Double Chance option has to be worth a look here. They have a bit of home form against Real Madrid do Valencia and that does give them some appeal to frustrate Los Blancos once more.
The heavyweight clash of Group A this week features PSG making the trip to the Bernabeu to face Real Madrid. When the two of them met on Matchday One it was a convincing win in the City of Lights that the Parisians put on the board. They have already qualified for the next stage and avoiding defeat will ensure that they top the group. So what kind of response will Real Madrid have in them? Can they reverse that early setback? The odds on Real Madrid to beat PSG are at 13/10* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on November 25th, 2019 at 8:36 p.m.). Read our Real Madrid vs PSG betting tips for more.
Real Madrid 13/10
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on November 25th, 2019 at 8:36 p.m.)
Real Madrid had a shaky start to their Champions League campaign this season. They suffered a 3-0 loss in Paris and were never really in the game. They have responded to that with a W2 D1 record and so while this campaign has not exactly been perfect stuff from them, they have home strengths, particularly when it comes to hosting French sides, losing just one of their 15 previous such fixtures.
With only four defeats in their last 48 Champions League home games, their record at the Bernabeu speaks for itself. A win in this fixture will likely not be enough at the end of the day to earn the top spot in the group, but it will restore some belief and confidence. The odds on Real Madrid to beat PSG are at 13/10* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on November 25th, 2019 at 8:36 p.m.)
So this has not been a perfect campaign from Real Madrid. Not only was there the defeat against PSG to open with, but they were also frustrated to a 2-2 draw by Club Brugge in their first home game of the campaign. Real Madrid had to fight back from 2-2 at the Bernabeu to get that win against the Belgians as well to spare some blushes. But in their last home game, they smashed Galatasaray 6-0, looking a much more cohesive unit.
It has been three defeats in their last seven Champions League games. But that is a small blip in a home record which has seen them lose only four times in 48 fixtures, winning 37 of those at the Bernabeu. Real Madrid have only lost once at home against French opposition (W11 D3) and are on a five-match winning streak currently in such fixtures. In those five straight home wins over French sides, Real Madrid have netted 15 times and have conceded once.
Real Madrid are W3 D1 L1 in the head to head with PGS
Both teams have scored in 2 of the 5 previous meetings
Real Madrid have won their two previous home games against the Parisians
Each of the last three meetings have ended over 2.5 goals
PSG are already through to the knockout stage. They only need to avoid defeat in Spain on Tuesday and they will go through as the group winners. So that may mean that they show up and just try and play for that point rather than going for broke and taking a victory. It has been a good campaign by them so far, building on that opening win over Real Madrid with a win in each of their other games played as well.
PSG are yet to concede in this group campaign either. But their record against Spanish teams has to be called into question a bit. They have taken just two wins in their last 10 games against Spanish opposition, home and away, losing seven of those ten. So that’s where it falls down a bit for them. They are also on a five-match losing streak on the road against Spanish clubs, conceding fifteen goals in that sequence. PSG have won eight of their last ten Champions League games, so won’t roll over lightly. But this is no easy away game for them.
Real Madrid have the chance to redress the balance a bit against PSG and they may be able to pull it off. They have had some blips recently, but they are such a strong side at home in European actin. PSG’s record against Spanish sides is poor and the odds on Real Madrid to beat PSG does have appeal.
Two El Clasico fixtures in the space of four days. It doesn’t get much better than that really. Real Madrid and Barcelona will be showing down once again at the Bernabeu on the weekend. In midweek Barcelona went there and destroyed their opponents in the Copa del Rey.
Will it be more of the same from the Catalans who are driving towards a league title? The odds on Barcelona to beat Real Madrid are at 13/10* (betting odds taken from bet365 on February 28th, 20198 at 7:03 pm) which makes them favourites
Real Madrid 9/5
* (betting odds taken from bet365 on February 28th, 20198 at 7:03 pm)
Barcelona arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night for the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi final. Things stood even at 1-1 after the first leg, Barcelona having had to fight back from being behind in that game. So they were expecting a tough challenge but they found the going fairly easy on the night as they pulled away to a 3-0 win which included a brace from Luis Suarez.
Suarez had been on a five-match goal drought but has now scored three goals in his last two games for the Catalans. That was a superb display from them and that should have given them a tremendous lift for this quick return. Barcelona are currently top of La Liga by seven points over Atletico Madrid, with Real Madrid a further two points back. So a win here for Barcelona and that would see them take a big step towards another league title.
Barcelona are running on a thirteen match undefeated streak of league form at the moment and they have not lost any of their last nine on the road. They have collected win in five of their last six away from the Nou Camp (W1). Barcelona are the top scorers in the league this season with a 65-goal haul. That is 22 more than what Real Madrid have managed to produce across the course of the season.
Barcelona have the upper hand in the recent head to head between themselves and their rivals Real Madrid. Barcelona are on a five-match undefeated streak of form against Los Merengues now. Following their midweek win at the Bernabeu, that is back to back 3-0 success there in all competitions from Barcelona. Barcelona have only lost one of their last four visits there as well across all competitions. So they have reason to turn up with confidence.
Real Madrid lost their last home game, a 2-1 reverse against Girona. That was a big upset but it was their second defeat in their last four games on home soil actually in the league. Throw in their midweek defeat against Barcelona and it’s not been going too well for them. While their form has been better than it was over the first part of the season, there are cracks which are starting to appear there.
It looks as if half of their team could be leaving in the summer. Gareth Bale who scored a winning penalty last weekend at Levante didn’t want to celebrate with his teammates. He is available to play in this one after not being punished for a celebration gesture in a previous match. Sergio Ramos has a cloud hanging over him after being charged with deliberately receiving a booking in the Champions League. Then there is their recent form which hasn’t been great.
Barcelona can make a bold statement in this one. Real Madrid didn’t really have an answer against them in the Copa del Rey. They will be a bit more dialled in this one, but you get the impression it’s not going to take much for their heads to drop if Barcelona get themselves in front. The odds on Barcelona to beat Real Madrid away from home at 13/10 look a pretty good offering for this big El Clasico showdown* (betting odds taken from bet365 on February 28th, 20198 at 7:03 pm).
The big Madrid derby, the first of the season happens on the weekend in La Liga. This is going to be one of the highlights of the weekend’s football action. Real Madrid are sitting in second place in the league, one place and two points ahead of their rivals Atletico. There will be some added pressure on home side Real to come up with the win after suffering a big loss in midweek.
Real Madrid even money
Atletico Madrid 11/4

Real Madrid needs to pick themselves up after they were floored in midweek against Sevilla. In Wednesday night’s action in La Liga, Barcelona had suffered a shock defeat against bottom side Leganes and so Real Madrid had a chance to climb above the Catalans with a result out at Sevilla later that evening. But Los Blancos suffered their first defeat of the season and it was a crushing one at 3-0.
So for the first time this season they will have their resolve tested in having to recover from a loss. Losing momentum before a big Madrid derby is the last thing that they would have wanted, but at least in such a big game, there is not going to be any question about mentality. They are going to be up for this on home soil against their city rivals. Home soil is where Real Madrid have flourished as well this season.
Real Madrid has won all three of their home games in La Liga this season, scoring a total of seven goals across that sequence of games. They have taken a clean sheet in two of those three as well so their home form stands up. That is going to be important for them to try and break out three points in this derby match, after having drawn their last three against Atletico in all competitions (90 minutes).
The most recent was the European Super Cup back in August, which Real did go on to lose in extra time. But they are on an unbeaten run of four matches on home soil in all competitions against Atletico and with a W1 D3 record. So that is a solid pointer that they aren’t likely to lose this La Liga fixture on the weekend. The question is, can they find that winning touch now they need it most?
If the win comes for Real Madrid then it is likely to be by the narrowest of margins. A Real Madrid to win by a 1 goal margin is at 11/4 odds* (betting odds taken on September 28th, 2018 at 5:23 pm). Considering that they have so far only concerned the one goal on home soil this season and they will be facing an Atletico side who have not been at their best on their travels yet, that does appear to offer some value.
Atletico Madrid are just W1 D1 L1 in their three away games this season and with just the one clean sheet on the board. So there should be chances for Real Madrid in this one, although the outcome of the match is likely to stay under 2.5 goals. Five of the last six Madrid derby matches between the two sides at the Bernabeu have finished under the goal line.
Real Madrid needs to show the mental strengths to bounce back from that harrowing midweek set back. This is the perfect opportunity in which to show their strengths and their true selves. With the threat of Gareth Bale and youngsters like Isco and Asensio, they are valuae to right those midweek wrong and get a narrow win in the first Madrid derby of the season.
