Odds on Denmark to beat Croatia – Betting Preview, World Cup 2018

Croatia v Denmark- World Cup 2018

Croatia v Denmark World Cup 2018, 1st July – 7.00 p.m

While Croatia have been one of the strongest teams at the tournament so far, will they be able to crack the tough puzzle that is Denmark’s defence? The Danes have a tremendous defensive record running through their current form and while they are heavy underdogs for this round of 16 tie up the 2018 World Cup, their defence may well keep them in this.

The question is though can they potentially do enough going forward to take down Croatia? The odds-on Denmark to be Croatia are at 21/5* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 28th, 2018 at 5:32 p.m.) but they have the potential to make the favourites sweat.

Croatia vs Denmark Odds*

Croatia 17/20
Draw 12/5
Denmark 21/5
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 28th, 2018 at 5:32 p.m.)

Can the Danes produce an upset in this round of 16 fixture at the 2018 World Cup? The odds on Denmark to beat Croatia leave the Danes as pretty heavy underdogs but that having been said, Denmark are a side who are not easily beaten. A glance at their current form shows that they will very likely give Croatia a really tough game in this fixture, even though their approach is likely going to be a defensive one.

Denmark cautious of Croatia threat

Naturally, Denmark are going to sit back a little bit in this one because Croatia are such a strong side and the Danes are not likely to hold their own in midfield against them. We saw how strong Croatia’s midfield was as they dominated Argentina in their big 3-0 win over the South Americans. But the strength of Denmark is in defence and not getting beaten. They will carry with them into this game an eleven match undefeated streak of form and that is not something to be sneezed at.

They justifiably have to be cautious of Croatia’s threat in this game, but Denmark have their own strengths and the half-time draw at bet365 is good value for this fixture. Denmark’s form over their last 11 games has seen them win five and draw six, and they have picked up four draws in their last six fixtures. So yes they may well be missing that extra quality in producing a winning touch but this is tournament football and sometimes you just need to stick in their and take your chance when it comes your way. Think Portugal at Euro 2016.

Impressive Denmark defence

Denmark have earned nine clean sheets in their last 11 games conceding just two goals in that sequence of matches. That is such an impressive run of form and while perhaps they do lack the quality going forward having scored only four goals in their last six games, their defence can keep them in this fixture. In the correct score market a 0-0 draw at 90 min is at 11/2* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 28th, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.).

More likely than not if Denmark get through this tie then this game is going to go under 2.5 goals but as nine of their last 10 games have gone under 1.5 goals that is a good prediction for Croatia v Denmark and it can be backed at a quote of 6/4 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 28th, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.).

Croatia are the better side of the two and this is going to be just about survival at times for Denmark. But still they know-how to defend and they know how to rely on the quality of Christian Eriksen to help them through matches. While the appeal may not be great on backing Denmark to win in the match outright you can back them at 7/4 odds to qualify* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 28th, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.) which does have some appeal because it covers all bases of Denmark coming out on top by hook or by crook.

The head-to-head between Denmark and Croatia is even with two wins each and a draw. This will be the second meeting between the two sides at a major international tournament the first being a clash at Euro ’96 with Croatia running out 3-0 winners. Denmark though who have won two of the last three meetings with Croatia. The most recent game between them was back in 2004 with Denmark suffering a 1-2 defeat.

Croatia v Denmark Predictions

While Croatia do look the justifiable favourites simply because of the strength of the Denmark defence there is a slight chance of an upset happening in this one, even more so if Croatia start getting complacent. If Denmark were to scrap their way through this round of 16 tie it may not be completed in 90 min and therefore a Denmark to qualify bet we are putting out there as a prediction for Croatia v Denmark.

Odds on Argentina to beat France – Betting Preview, World Cup 2018

France v Argentina- World Cup 2018

France v Argentina World Cup 2018, 30th June – 3.00 p.m

Both of these had their struggles during their group stage campaigns. France didn’t find the going easy against Australia and Peru in their group and held out against Denmark to get a point that saw them win their group. So at least they did progress as group winners which is more than can be said for Argentina. The Albiceleste were nothing short of dreadful for most of their group stage campaign, but they managed to keep themselves alive by the skin of their teeth in their final group stage game. With that pressure off, can they now start playing well? The odds on Argentina to beat France sees the South Americans going as 27/10 underdogs* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 27th, 2018 at 5:52 p.m.).

France vs Argentina Odds*

France 13/10
Draw 21/10
Argentina 27/10
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 27th, 2018 at 5:52 p.m.)

Sometimes adversity can unite. Argentina will be hoping that that is the case as they head into the knockout phase action at the 2018 World Cup on the weekend. They will be taking on France for a place in the quarter finals after failing to win their group. Argentina arrived in Russia on the back of a really poor qualification campaign where they only sealed a spot in the final round of matches. It was in the final round of group stage matches at the 2018 World Cup that that secured a place in the knockout phase.

After a 1-1 draw with Iceland and a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Croatia, Argentina were stuck at 1-1 with Nigeria in their final group stage match. The Africans just needed to hold out for a draw and entering the final ten minutes it looked as if they would. Argentina produced a poor second half performance instead of stepping up and putting the game out of sight. Than four minutes from time defender Marcos Rojo popped up and slotted home a winner for Argentina.

Better to come for Albeicestse?

So will that be a reprieve more than salvation for them? They are W3 D1 L2 in their last six games and in that run of games have managed only the one clean sheet which was against Haiti in a World Cup warm up match. To be fair they have looked very vulnerable defensively and both teams to score is at 21/20 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 27th, 2018 at 5:52 p.m.). How they fell apart so badly against Croatia was because Argentina have a very poor midfield and that is where France may catch them out unless they shore things up in there.

Undoubtedly Argentina have such a talented squad that they are able to pull off survival acts even when playing such abysmal stuff. They have the options, the World beaters to call upon to get them out of holes. The celebrations at the end of the Nigeria game showed how much relief they felt at not falling short. That could really inject them with a boost of new self belief that they can do even better. If they get through this it would likely be by the skin of their teeth and Argentina to win by a 1 goal margin is at 15/4 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 27th, 2018 at 5:52 p.m.).

France vulnerbale

France didn’t play all that well in their group campaign and so this may not end up being a bad draw for Argentina. France could only scrape one-goal margin wins against Australia and Peru for example and then played out a 0-0 draw with Denmark in their final match. Their attack has not gotten going and like Argentina in a way, they look unsure of their tactics and their attack has not gotten into the swing of things. However, they do have a better midfielder than Argentina.

France have form with a W4 D2 record in their last six games played but they have had issues at the back as well with three clean sheets in their last nine games only. So they have their weaknesses and there is another thing working in Argentina’s favour too. The South Americans have won all four previous matches against France, three of those with a clean sheet. Can they take advantage of an under-performing French outfit?

France v Argentina Predictions

It would be something if Argentina were to keep their World Cup going. This is a tough game for them because of some very poor performances in midfield and at the back. They showed tremendous character to stick in there against Nigeria and play to the end, plus they have the threat of Lionel Messi. They aren’t playing well but getting through to their knockout phase after such a rough time of things in the knockout stage may have strengthened them and France are most certainly not on top of their game either. Argentina are 6/5 odds to qualify* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 27th, 2018 at 5:52 p.m.).

Odds on Iceland to beat Croatia – Betting Preview, World Cup 2018

Iceland v Croatia- World Cup 2018

Iceland v Croatia World Cup 2018, 26th June – 7.00 p.m

Even though mathematically Croatia need a point to secure top spot, they have such positive goal difference that they could lose this and still finish top. So really this is less about Croatia who have already qualified for the round of 16, and more about Iceland’s hopes of reaching the knockout phase. In order for Iceland to get through to the knockout phase they have to take three points in this game against their fellow Europeans and they need the result in the Nigeria v Argentina game to go their way as well. It is no longer all in their own hands.

Iceland v Croatia Betting Odds*

Croatia 11/8
Draw 12/5
Iceland 9/4
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 23rd, 2018 at 00:03 a.m.)

The situation is pretty simple for Iceland and that could actually make them quite dangerous for this game. If they want to stand a chance of getting through to the round of 16 in what is their debut World Cup, they have to win this game. Even if they do that they will still need the result in the Nigeria v Argentina game to go their way. A draw in that other game leaves Iceland with goal difference problems over Nigeria. If Argentina win, Iceland would have to better them on goal difference. A Nigeria victory means Iceland miss out regardless.

Iceland produced that fantastic 1-1 draw with Argentina in their first ever World Cup match and they were such good value for it. They competed hard, they broke forward when the opportunity was right with fantastic intent and they got their just rewards. A lot of that intensity was missing as they took on Nigeria in their second group stage match and fell to a 2-0 defeat. That was the last thing they needed because it undid all the great work that they had pulled out of their hat against Argentina.

Can Iceland pull through?

So the odds-on Iceland to be Croatia are a pretty long are 9/4 * (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 22nd, 2018 at 11:38 p.m.) and they are not a side who have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last nine games, winning just one game during that sequence. So they have been having their struggles with current form without question. But they are not totally out of this yet because Croatia are so comfortable at the top of the group, that they may not be at full force for this one.

Even if Croatia were to lose this one it would need a big victory by Nigeria over Argentina to see them not finishing top spot. So Croatia may well use this opportunity to rest of players ahead of the knockout phase. So that is the one factor that could open the door for Iceland to go and get that win that they need. Either way, the outcome of this game is likely to be a low scoring affair and we are going under 2.5 goals for our Iceland v Croatia prediction and that is a price of 8/13 at bet 365* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 22nd, 2018 at 11:38 p.m.).

Iceland are just going to have to throw the kitchen sink at this one because settling for a draw and being cautious is not going to get them anything. If you are looking for a spirited side who can come together and produce something special, they really would look no further than Iceland. Just think back to their fantastic Euro 2016 campaign. That is the kind spirit only need to tap into for this latest challenge.

Iceland v Croatia Predictions

Croatia have looked so good, they are arguably the best team of the group stage at Russia 2018. The way their midfield dominated Argentina was just so impressive and they are likely to do the same against Iceland. Iceland have shown plenty the spirit but they came up short in quality against Nigeria and we can roll with Croatia to win to nil for our prediction for the game.

Odds on Iran to beat Portugal – Betting Preview, World Cup 2018

Iran v Portugal- World Cup 2018

Iran v Portugal World Cup 2018, 25th June – 7.00 p.m

The winner of this game will be through to the next round. Iran are still in this and they will have their backers for the game as well because they so nearly got themselves a point against Spain in their last match. Another spirited performance from them could see the reigning European champions rattled. Portugal struggled past Morocco in their last match the odds on Iran to beat Portugal at 5/1 are probably going to draw some punters in.

Iran vs Portugal Odds*

Portugal 7/10
Draw 11/4
Iran 5/1
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 22nd, 2018 at 9:32 p.m.)

Can Iran pull off one of the biggest shocks in the history of the World Cup by beating Portugal in their final group stage match? Victory in this match would put Iran through to the round of 16 at the expense of Portugal and that would be a massive shock. Iran opened their campaign with a dramatic stoppage time win against Morocco, and then even though they lost 1-0 against Spain in a second fixture, they deserve a lot of credit for the positive way that they approached the game.

Iran produced a fantastic defensive display full of commitment and passion, and when the timing was right they were not afraid to get forward and challenge the Spaniards. They had a couple of glorious chances to at least get a draw out of the game, and they did have the ball in the back of the net which was ruled out for being offside. If Iran turns up and challenges Portugal the way that they did Spain, they may well find the opportunities of making a breakthrough in the game a little easier than it was against the Red Fury.

Iran seeking precious third World Cup victory

The win over Morocco in their first group stage match in Russia was just their second World Cup victory only, adding to a success they scored at World Cup 1998 in beating the USA. Now, of course, it is hard to expect Iran to run up a lot of goals, and if they were to get a victory in this game then it would likely be by nothing more than a 1-0 score. There is something of a trend with that as four of their last five games have been settled by a 1-0 scoreline with Iran winning three of the games in that sequence. It is little surprise that you would be looking at a big price of 11/1 odds on and Iran 1-0 correct score option at bet 365* (Betting Odds were taken from June 22nd, 2018 at 9:32 p.m.).

Regardless of the actual scoreline, there does appear to be value at 8/15 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from June 22nd, 2018 at 9:32 p.m.) on the game going under 2.5 goals. One of the big assets that Iran is their defensive strengths, because it is not too often that you will see them giving very much away at all. They were strong at the back during their qualification process, and during their warm-ups ahead of the 2018 World Cup. They are going to need to bring their defensive A-game as well because they will be charged with the task of keeping Cristiano Ronaldo quiet.

Ronaldo the game changer?

That is the big concern for Iran, trying to keep Ronaldo out of the game. Morocco actually did that well once Ronaldo had got on the scoresheet early against them in their second group stage match. From that point on Morocco did do a good job of keeping Ronaldo subdued and that is exactly what Iran have to do. Is not always easy because free kicks in and around the box are going to happen and even if he’s not in the game during open play, Ronaldo is such a massive threat from set pieces.

So there it is for this game. Iran go into it with a chance of securing a place in the round of 16, but can they produce that victory? It would be something special if they could and it would be the biggest moment in their history if it could happen. Even if it pans out that they can’t quite do enough to get the win, they would leave them with their heads held high if they could grind out a point in this one against the European champions.

Iran v Portugal Predictions

We are siding with Iran to avoid defeat in this one. So far for Portugal is has been the Cristiano Ronaldo show but if Iran can keep him quiet then there are going to be chances for them in this one to get something done. We can’t ultimately see them picking up the three points that would see them through to the next round, but we can see them earning a draw.

Odds on Senegal to beat Poland – Betting Preview, World Cup 2018

Poland v Senegal - World Cup 2018

Poland v Senegal World Cup 2018, 19th June – 4.00 p.m.

Group H at the 2018 World Cup which contains Poland, Senegal, Colombia and Japan looked from the start that it was going to be one of the most competitive in terms of the fight for the two qualification spots from it. Going into the tournament there doesn’t appear as if there would be much between Poland, Senegal and Colombia and therefore this is a big game for both of these two open with to try and get a grip of some supremacy. It is Poland who are going as the favourites to collect a victory.

Poland vs Senegal Odds*

Poland 7/5
Draw 9/4
Senegal 23/10
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 16th, 2018 at 00:28 a.m.)

This is a big game for Poland as they open their World Cup account and three points here would set them up very well to make a run at the round of 16. It would basically see off one of their main challengers. So this is going to be a time to show a bit of positivity and Poland, in general, like to play a pretty direct and forward-minded game. Two years ago at Euro 2016, they produced some really good performances, full of intent and they looked a real handful at times and found themselves a little unlucky to get eliminated in a penalty shootout against Portugal and quarter-finals.

They had little trouble coming through qualification for the 2018 World Cup and throughout their group, they showed their very good scoring touch. Of course they have their world-class striker in Robert Lewandowski who is the 11/4 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from June 16th, 2018 at 00:28 a.m.) first goalscorer favourite at bet365, but the player who supports him so well and does a lot of the creative work is Arkadiusz Milik and between them they are quite a handful for opposing defences.

High scoring game on the cards?

For our Poland v Senegal predictions we are looking at goals being produced in this one and therefore over 2.5 goals at 5/4 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from June 16th, 2018 at 00:28 a.m.) is a selection that we are going to suggest. Poland carries a good scoring threat with them and as far as we can see for this game is likely to be enough to get the better of Senegal who can’t match them in terms of goal output. Poland have won two of their last three games, drawing the other one and in those three fixtures, they produced a tally of nine goals.

To be fair they are not the greatest side at the back and we have seen evidence of that with recent goals conceded against the likes of South Korea, Chile and Nigeria and therefore it’s well worth considering both teams to score in this fixture. How much of a danger are Senegal going to pose to Poland and a request to get three points and an early lead in the group?

Senegal struggling for winning form

Senegal have won only one of their last five games, drawing three of those and while they have lost only one of their last 13 games you have to take into consideration the level of opposition that they have been up against during that sequence. Frankly of hasn’t been great and inside their last five games, they have been held to draws by Uzbekistan and Luxembourg which doesn’t exactly bode well for them in trying to take down a higher quality team in Poland.

It may be really difficult for the African nation to come up with a clean sheet in this one because Poland are likely to bully them around. The Senegal squad have a lot of players who ply their trade around some of Europe’s top leagues, and their midfield is made up by most players who play in England including captain Cheikhou Kouyaté and Idrissa Gueye. Their star man is Liverpool player Sadio Mane but he has not scored in international goal since September last year and there is going to be a lot of pressure on him to try and deliver.

Poland v Senegal Predictions

At the end of the day, Poland have the better-proven goal-scoring threats in their ranks than their opponents. As well not be an important factor here and we can see Poland collecting a relatively comparable three points at the end of the day, so we will back a Poland victory and if you want push rest of value a Poland v Senegal prediction is Poland win and both teams to score.
